Developing a positive parenting phone application to ensure access to information for caregivers living in Lebanon was one of the key actions of UNICEF’s Qudwa strategy.[1] MAGENTA Consulting was responsible for developing this application, and commissioned ITAR Consultants in order to perform two different research assignments:
- Before the phone application was developed, a formative needs assessment to inform the content and format of the application. FGDs were organised with Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian caregivers to explore (1) caregivers information needs, (2) barriers to achieving ideal parenting practices and (3) smartphone and apps habits among the targets;
- After the development of the phone application, a pilot testing of the application with participants. Daily sessions were organised to consult participants both: (1) individually to explore their user experience on the application; and (2) during group restitutions to collectively discussed positive features and opportunities for improvement to better match their needs.
