The project financed by the French Embassy was financed between 2022 and 2024 due to two observations:
- the difficulties faced by schools in Lebanon since the beginning of the country’s economic crisis; and,
- the decline of French education in the country.
As such, the project was built around the a dual objective of sustainable support to ensure the recovery of both the private and public education sectors while maintaining the attractiveness of the French-speaking education network in Lebanon. It is based on capacity building activities for public and private institutions including:
- Training for management on economic and ecological transition (as well as general management and financial skills);
- Training for teachers on multilingualism learning and on the integration of digital technology in the classroom; and,
- A focus on 10 public schools to support their emergence as “centres of excellence” in the country.
ITAR led a three-month evaluation of the project following OECD DAC criteria.
