In this research led by ITAR’s director, a learning and recommendation report was developed to guide the integration of livelihood support for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) in emergency shelter programs in Lebanon. The study aimed to identify best practices and lessons learned from both GBV survivors and professionals working within shelters, as well as other organisations providing protection and livelihood services.
The research involved conducting 30 interviews across Lebanon, gathering insights into the needs and experiences of women in emergency shelters. These interviews contributed to the development of recommendations that provided operational steps for future programs, focusing on comprehensive support for women until their full socio-economic integration.
The final report offers recommendations to enhance current programming and ensure that GBV survivors receive holistic assistance that addresses both their immediate safety and long-term economic stability.
